The fast and the slow of things...

Last week ended with a bang, and this week started with a halt... I've not left the house since Sunday, well, except for walks... Peyton still goes in the stroller even though he is walking 99% and only crawling 1% of the time now. He is getting to be quite a little pro. As you can see, he gets quite a bit of joy from it.

Friday was shopping day and I had to pick up a couple of baby shower presents. You know you're in the family way when all the bridal showers turn to baby showers and you feel like the resident expert on all things baby. Saturday, Peyton and I drove up to Bellevue to attend the shower of an old WSU co-worker of mine who used to swear up and down that she would ne
ver have kids. Never say never honey, she's having twins! She is quite happy about it but it was quite hard for me to wrap my brain around her being a mommy as she shrunk back in fear from Peyton (THE most mild mannered kid I know) as if he was going to maul her or something - QUITE funny. I have NO doubt she and her husband will be most excellent parents when those two cuties arrive. Sunday I went over to my friend Gretchen's house to help her make treats for her step-dad's memorial service on Monday. Sadly, he passed away on Friday so it was a tough week for her family. It was nice to get to just hang out and talk with her while we made his favorite dessert to serve at the service.

And that's it. I haven't been anywhere since. Fortunately, Kelley and Ethan have been coming over every day for long walks and so Peyton and I have gotten some nice social time. Peyton finally cut his second top tooth sometime Sunday night. After what seemed like an eternity of cranky boy, we finally have our little charmer back! Monday he woke up happy and has been a joy ever since. I only hope we get a bit of a reprieve before the next pearly white starts it's long decent through those tender gums. Poor sweet baby.

Peyton loves to steal the stick out of the slider door and walk around with it like it's his cane. Where does he learn that?

Life sure is busier when they start walking! Don't you find yourself practically running to keep up most days?
