Change of plans

So we were supposed to go to Sequim today but our plans had to be cancelled due to lack of response from the party whom we were meeting. That's okay since the weather is supposed to turn nasty this afternoon and it was going to cost us moolah we don't exactly have. I am mostly content except for the fact that we were going to swing by my beloved Starbucks on the way out of town and I was all set for a DELICIOUS Cinnamon Dolce Latte. Starbucks is loving me back because this year they are offering it with Sugar Free Syrup. That means I can have a non-fat, sugar free CDL and don't have to feel one ounce of guilt! Oh, thank you, thank you Starbucks! I had one last night with my soul sister. She needed an escape yesterday so we met up last night and talked kid free for a good hour and a half. It was just what we both needed. I love having a girl friend who just gets me even when I'm rambling and not sure if I even get myself. Come to think of it, all the girls in my circle are like that and I love them all!

I'm listening to my MP3 and darn it if the most catchy song on there isn't "I hate you all" from the Grey's Anatomy soundtrack. It's kind of a funny song but then I find myself singing it around the house and that is certainly not something I want my little mimic boy to learn when his first words pop out. I guess I better delete it off my device and pay attention to the more time tested positive songs like "Rock Me Amadeus" (Falco) or "Hard Habit to Break" (Chicago). I've got some oldies but goodies on there I tell ya. The funny thing is that what are now considered oldies are my beloved 80's songs. Speaking of the 80's, Ian just bought the entire Falco CD and I had never heard any of their other songs before. I was listening to it on the way to meet Gretchen last night and called him to inquire if they seriously sang all their songs in German. He pointed out that they are, in fact an Austrian band. It still is very funny to me because I thought that was just for R.M.A. and to be funny.

So, yesterday I found myself feeling ambitious enough to...paint! After two years in this house, I finally had enough of my dingy, flat, dirty, white, contractor grade painted mantel. Once Ian completed the crown it just looked, well, even more crappy. So I taped it off, pulled out the glossy white crown paint and slathered it on. It is so pretty now! Okay, as pretty as a non-decorative mantel can be. But it does contrast nicely with the taupe walls and stands out nicely with the crown. Yes, I am very proud and keep looking at it. Ian said he does the same thing when he completes such a project so it is okay to be proud. Thanks darlin'.

So Peyton has created his own special crawl. It's one part military style and 1 part, um I don't know what you'd call it. He gets up on all fours as pictured, moves his arms forward one at a time (like the standard) but then both his knees hop forward together. It is the funniest thing. Yesterday, he was crawling for one of Maggie's toys so I picked it up and tossed it to the other side of the room and he promptly spun around and started going for it. I kept doing that until I realized I was basically playing fetch with my child... he's actually better at the game than Maggie. I'd die if he ever got one of her toys into his mouth though.

I love his "brown" outfit! He is so cute up on all four. Maggie must LOVE having another buddy on his trusty "four". You don't sound too sad about not going to Sequim :)

I too was blessed by the Sugar Free option! I'd pretty much gotten into either getting drip coffee or a SF Vanilla Latte every time I went to Starbucks. Now I feel like a whole new woman. Funny how one drink can "transform" so many of us. I got the paint out today to paint my laundry room, but that's as far as it went because in doing so it made me realize that I had laundry to do. sigh... :) Karin
