Training update:

I'm three trainings in now and wish I could say I feel great. Truth is, my knees are starting to bother me and it's scaring me a little bit. Saturday's run with the team went great! I had a lot of fun and was able to keep a pretty good pace for the first time out. I met two of my 94 teammates and went home feeling really excited. Sunday was a little harder because I was by myself and a little tired from Saturday. I trudged through thinking Tuesday would be a breeze again after a days rest. It wasn't exactly a breeze. I made it but my goal is to get up in the mornings and run before Ian leaves the house and if you know me well, you know I am NOT in any way shape or form, a "go gettem" morning person. I crawled out of bed this morning at 7:06 and was out the door by 7:13. It felt hard and I'm sure the hour had a lot to do with it. I realize these first few weeks are going to take a lot of persistence on my part. It's not going to be easy, it's going to hurt a little and I'm not going to feel like going every training day. It helps to have a greater purpose though, to know I'm not just doing this for myself but for all those sick people waiting for a cure.

P.S. to the disappointed Grandparents, the next post will contain something about the children and have pictures...promise.

You hang in there Niclole! I'm so excited to see you tackle this. Cheering for you even though you cannot "hear" me.

Way to go!! I'm so impressed with your morning motivation! I would love to work out early in the morning, just so I can check it off my to do list early and not have it hanging over my head until I finally tackle it during the day. I tend to procrastinate my workouts worse than anything else in life.

I'm so proud of you Nicole! You are right, getting started is the hardest part but once you've developed a routine and built some strength you'll be looking forward to it. Looking forward to reading and talking to you more about your training! Way to go! HighFive Friend!

Nicoly, it's so NORMAL to have good and bad exercise days. Some days it seems so breezy, other days it's like slogging thru mud. As for the tender knees, what do they say about running every other day and doing a different exercise on the odd days? Is that bad advice? ~Tutu

You and I seem to have taken on similar challenges. Mine came as a result of my Dr. ordering me to read Younger Next Year. As a result, you've got 'goals' and I have 'kedges.'

Congrats on your plan and anticipated outcomes.
