I will survive!

This is the Hawthorne tree in our backyard. We got our first real rain in a couple of months and the sun was setting and I just thought it looked so beautiful.

Peyton had a visit today from his friend Audra! Gretchen came over with Colin and Audra and brought lunch and just hung out for a couple of hours. It was such a nice treat for us, especially on a Thursday.

I caught this darling picture of the two of them sitting together. I think Peyton looks like he's telling her something juicy. They are so cute together!

Baked my first of many batches of scratch chocolate cake for the wedding cake I'm doing for Saturday. I suddenly thought "what the heck am I doing?" I really have no idea how this is going to turn out, if I'm making enough etc. I have a basic small 3 tier "stack" in my head and am also planning on doing a large sheetcake. I plan on decorating them similarly to tie the two together but beyond that I'm kind of winging it. This isn't for pay or anything - just a gift to my brother & sister-in-law but I want it to turn out really nice for them. We'll see, I'll definitely take a picture and post it (if it turns out).

Survivor started tonight! Wooohooo! I love that show! I'm kind of annoyed though because they divided the 20 people among racial lines. So they announced them as 1. African Americans 2. Asian Americans 3. Latinos & 4. Caucasians. Now tell me why the Latinos weren't Latino Americans and honestly why weren't the Caucasians, Caucasian Americans. America is not the only place where white people come from and I'm pretty sure that Latinos consider themselves just as much American as anyone else! Now I say all this in jest because I get so very annoyed at all the extreme political correctness this nation has had shoved down our throats. I'm all for racial equality, don't get me wrong but I hate reverse racism. The African Americans get to sit on that show and spout off about how they are going to get to "represent their people" and then ironically, they appear to be the least cohesive tribe. That's fine but honestly, if a white person said that, the poo would hit the fan. Am I wrong? It's going to be an interesting season, I'll say that. Right now my favorite tribe is either the Latinos or the Asians. They haven't shown much re: the Caucasians except for some group spooning. Okay...

Sooo, big weekend coming up. I've got this wedding cake, the wedding reception, and Ian's Dad, his wife and Ian's Grandma are all spending the night Saturday. I'm really looking forward to having them but it just means that on top of making a wedding cake for 50 or so, I also need to make sure my house is clean. I'm sure I'll pull it off, just sounds a little daunting to me at this moment.
