So why even bother with the laundry...

My darling boy exhibited his first fit for Mommy this evening. I thought he'd be content as long as SOMEONE was holding him but he actually showed preference with a little crying fit and leaning towards me. I read somewhere that they start to do this at about 6 months of age. Right on schedule. I was sad for Ian who was holding him at the time. It's hard to say it's nothing personal because it is. Peyton loves his Daddy, we both know that but the fact of the matter is he spends 90% of his time with Mommy and oddly does not tire of it. I think he tends to lean towards me during his low moments. Why do we do that? We always take our lows (our most unpleasant moments) to our Mommies, or in latter years, our spouses. I suppose it's because that is where we feel the safest to be our ugliest. These people have to love us no matter what so it is a safe place to land. So how does a 6 month old figure that out so darn fast? Today was bath day and I always flip him over at the end of his bath to wash his hiney and rinse the back of him off really good. My left forearm always ends up in front of his face and today he saw a little opportunity for some sucking and that little squirt gave me a small Hickey!!! His little sucking mechanism is so dang strong! He does try and suck every little thing that gets in the way of that mouth of his. Is this related to teething? Seems odd, because he's not biting, just sucking. Adorable still.

So Anyway...
I almost always thoroughly check all the pockets before I throw a load in the washer. What are the odds that on the ONE day I fail, dear husband o'mine leaves a small chocolate in the pocket of his pants. AND what are the odds that only MY clothes would end up with tiny little greasy chocolate stains ALL over them? So why even bother with the laundry when your clothes come out dirtier than when they went in? Arrrrrggghhh! My dear one did respond quite properly and sweetly with "well I guess you get to do a little shopping". He is so good to me.
